Project Description:- Full Turnkey Project Solution – Design to Commission
Electrical Switchgear, UPS System Enhancement and Upgrade
Duration:- 12 Weeks
Power Design Projects Ltd were engaged to carry out the initial investigations on the electrical power system, highlighting area’s of improvement to provide the necessary power distribution network capable of delivering greater continuity and resilience of essential supply to the sub-distribution systems and in turn the final customer computer racks.
Part of the decision making by the client on the schemes was based upon “Zero Downtime” on the power system during the enhancement and upgrade works.
New Modular UPS System
As part of the upgrade works to the essential UPS power system to both increase the resilience and also improve the efficiency. A new modular static UPS system was installed in place of the existing singular unit. Power Design Projects carefully planned the system to allow 2 No. 250kVA UPS units to be installed, connected and commissioned next to the existing unit leaving space for the removal at a later date.
In a careful and controlled manner the projects team of PDP connected and commissioned the 3rd UPS unit, carrying out all the necessary tests to ensure the UPS system was operating and functioning correctly in accordance with the specification and manufacturers guidelines.
The operations director of the data centre was very pleased and gave the following reference:-
“Having agreed a preferred design solution in consultation with Power Design Projects , we proceeded with the implementation phase and again we were pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the entire process was managed”.
“Overall it was a pleasure working with Mark and the entire team at PDP and we look forward to working with them again in the future”.
